Winter Indoor Field Hockey Schedule

For those who haven't played indoor hockey before, it is a different game from outdoor, but it's an exciting game and a great way to improve your skills. Some examples of differences between indoor and outdoor include:

* There are only 5 field players & a kicking back or goalie on the pitch (so everyone gets a lot more opportunity to be involved in field play)

* Indoor sticks are used, which are generally lighter and have a thinner head,

* Hitting or raising the ball in field play is not allowed,

* The ball can only be raised if it is a shot/flick at net,

* The boards can be used as an additional player/pass,

* Free pushes are given to the defending team if the ball goes off the end line (regardless of who touches it last), etc.,

* All players, except for the kicking back/goalie, line up outside the net on the opposite side of where the opponent is pushing the ball out on a defensive penalty corner,

* More indoor rules and differences will be discussed at the Rules/Umpiring Clinic (generally scheduled for early October).

** To register for indoor, please click on the Wanna Play (this link is also found on the right side pane).**

Fall Indoor League

* The FALL indoor season generally commences on the first Sunday after the Thanksgiving weekend and ends on the second Sunday in December.

* All games will be played at Talisman Centre on SUNDAYS.

* Game time will vary from week to week (running anywhere between 9 am – 10pm) and will consist of 2 x 25-minute halves.

* Teams will play in a round robin during the Fall Session. Fall standings will be used to determine which divisions the teams will be playing in for the Winter Session.

* Players MUST play with INDOOR sticks, which are taped with WHITE tape (so as not to damage the playing surface at LPSC).

* Matches are rarely cancelled during indoor play. During extenuating circumstances, matches may only be cancelled at the discretion of the umpires and with agreement from both teams.

* There are no eligibility restrictions (i.e. provincial and varsity level female players are eligible to play on any of the teams). However, players may only register with and play on ONE team.

EXCEPTION: Goalies are eligible to play on ANY of and ANY NUMBER of the ladies' leagues teams. This applies to both indoor and outdoor.
